Bombo Headland is part of the Permian Gerringong Volcanic series of rocks that consist largely of latite (Wollongong Geological Series Sheet SI 56-9).

Bathymetry & Substrate

The outlet discharges into approximately 5m water depth at the cliff face on Bombo Headland in an easterly facing cove that is subject to high energy waves. To the north of the outfall are rugged cliffs of Bombo Headland, Cathedral Rocks and then Boyds Beach. To the south of the outfall are Bombo Beach, Pheasant Point and Kiama Harbour.
